The K-12 system in the Philippines aims to improve education quality, equip graduates with industry-relevant skills, and enhance labor market readiness. Hence, this study delves into the experiences of senior high school (SHS) graduates who entered the workforce directly, evaluating the K-12 curriculums effectiveness in preparing them for employment while identifying the challenges they face at work. The researchers employed phenomenological approach and utilized purposive sampling to select seven SHS graduates from Mandaue City. Semi-structured interview guide was conducted during the data collection process. Subsequently, thematic analysis was applied using Braun and Clarkes method to identify themes within the participants responses. Four main themes emerged from the analysis: (1) Senior High Schools Impact on Employment Success, (2) Perceived Employment Challenges and Disparities, (3) Shortcomings of SHS Curriculum in Workforce Preparation, and (4) Factors Shaping Career and Life Trajectory. The studys findings underscore the multifaceted impact of SHS education on employment success, including the need for a balanced curriculum that integrates practical skills development to prepare students for the evolving workforce. This study recommends enhancing the SHS curriculum with hands-on learning, fostering industry collaboration, allocating resources, and tracking graduates employment trajectories for continuous improvement and relevance in the job market.
