Abstract
Track and field student-athletes experienced less sports success. Using diagnostic research design specifically regression analysis this study aimed to determine the influence of sports motivation and self-satisfaction on sports success. Involving 130 respondents selected through quota sampling, it was concluded that sports motivation and self-satisfaction has (70.6%) very strong significant combined influence on sports success, supporting Achievement Goal Theory’s view that student-athletes define sports success through mastery and performance goals. It is recommended that future studies explore additional variables and qualitative insights to explain the remaining influence on sports success, while the Department of Education implements programs to enhance athletes’ sports motivation and self-satisfaction.
