Abstract

This research explores the intricate dynamics of Canapnapan Elementary School, a multi-grade barrio school in rural Bohol, Philippines. Through interviews with one School-In-Charge and four teachers, alongside observations and document analysis, this study examines the interrelationship between the school's Vision, Mission, and Goals (VMG), school culture and climate, leadership approaches, and teacher practices that foster positive culture. Utilizing theoretical frameworks from educational sociology, the research reveals how indigenous community values, Filipino educational traditions, and modern pedagogical approaches integrate within this unique context. The findings demonstrate how a school with limited material resources creates a rich educational environment through strong community connections, culturally responsive leadership, and adaptive teaching strategies. The study also identifies both challenges and opportunities presented by the multi-grade setting, geographic isolation, and socioeconomic constraints, offering insights into the resilience and innovation within rural Philippine education.
