Abstract
This study investigates the factors influencing the career choices of fourth-year Tourism students at Laguna University for the academic year 2024-2025. It focuses on key determinants such as personal interest, environmental influences, internship exposure, and financial stability, examining how these factors shape students' career decisions within the tourism industry. The research employs a descriptive-correlational design, surveying 71 students to assess demographic characteristics, influencing factors, and levels of interest in various tourism career sectors including transportation, accommodation, cruise, travel agencies, events management, and government offices.
Findings reveal that internship exposure significantly impact career choices, while personal interest, financial stability, and environmental influences also play important roles. The study identifies a meaningful relationship between these influencing factors and students' career interests, highlighting the need for enhanced career guidance programs and internship opportunities. The research underscores the importance of aligning educational curricula with industry demands to better prepare students for successful careers in tourism.
Recommendations include developing targeted career support initiatives, strengthening university-industry partnerships, and improving internship frameworks to facilitate smoother transitions from academic to professional environments. This study contributes valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders aiming to support tourism students in making informed career decisions and fostering a competent, sustainable workforce.
