Abstract
This research investigates how motovloggers contribute to the visibility and promotion of Balanac River Dam in Magdalena, Laguna, and how their digital storytelling shapes tourist interest, awareness, and eventual visitation. As tourism marketing increasingly shifts toward social media platforms, motovlogging where motorcycle riders document their journeys and destinations has become a fast-growing form of user-generated promotion. Although motovlogs have noticeably increased the online presence of rural destinations, their influence on local tourism development has not been thoroughly examined.
A qualitative research design was employed, using purposive sampling to gather insights from 18 participants composed of motovloggers, tourists, and local government representatives. Semi-structured interviews provided rich narratives, which were organized and interpreted using Thematic Analysis.
The findings show that most respondents first encountered Balanac River Dam through motovlogs circulating on Facebook and YouTube. The vivid visuals, authentic narration, and adventure-focused storytelling were identified as key elements that captured viewer attention and encouraged interest in visiting the site. Afterwards, an action plan regarding enhancing safety and sustainability at Balanac River.
