Abstract
Student-athletes received lack support in the multilevel environment. Guided by Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, I explored the experiences of the student-athletes in a multilevel environment using a phenomenological approach. I conducted in-depth interviews with five (5) teacher-coaches and focus group discussions with five (5) student-athletes. I found that there was a strong microsystem and mesosystem support for student-athletes through personalized coaching, attention to diverse needs, well-being initiatives, community collaboration, positive team dynamics, and access to sports equipment and facilities. I identified barriers in the exosystem and macrosystem levels, particularly financial constraints and limited international support. This study underscores the need for strengthened multilevel interventions and future mixed-methods research to identify effective strategies for holistic student-athlete development.
