Abstract
This study aimed to determine how Adversity Quotient (AQ) and Emotional Quotient (EQ) affect the adaptive strategies of how student-parents enrolled in Central Philippines State University of the CHICKS (Candoni, Hinoba-an, Ilog, Cauayan, Kabankalan City and Sipalay City) Area. This study emphasizes the importance of internal psychological resources in fostering resilience and academic persistence among student-parents. It offers practical insights for universities to develop and implement psychological support programs and interventions tailored to enhance resilience and emotional coping skills for student-parents and at-risk learners.
Using a descriptive-correlational design, purposive sampling was employed to select student-parents currently enrolled. Standardized instruments measuring AQ, EQ, and Adaptive Strategies were administered. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics (mean, frequency, percentage) and multiple regression to examine relationships and predict adaptive behaviors
Student-parents exhibited moderate to high levels of AQ and EQ, demonstrating psychological strengths to manage academic and parental roles. Their adaptive strategies mainly involved time management, emotional regulation, and help-seeking. Significant positive correlations were found between AQ, EQ, and adaptive strategies, indicating that higher adversity and emotional quotients promote better adaptation and coping.
