Abstract
The purpose of the study was to explore how elementary parents perceived the child protection policies at the Carmen Central Elementary School SPED Center, as well as their coping mechanisms and insights. This study used a phenomenological approach in a qualitative research design. Fourteen (14) participants were selected through purposive sampling and interviewed through in-depth interviews and a focus group discussion. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings revealed that parents appreciate the policy, are aware of its provisions, and actively support the welfare of their children. Their coping mechanisms include engaging with teachers, participating in school activities, and managing emotions effectively. Insights emphasized the importance of the policy, parental roles, and its strong implementation. This study highlighted that parental awareness and involvement play a vital role in effective policy implementation. It is recommended that schools strengthen parent engagement, conduct regular orientations, and enhance support systems to promote child protection.
