Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the content and job relevance of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) National Certification (NC) programs in the electronics sector: Input for Micro-credentialing program. With the increasing demand for skilled workers and the rapid evolution of electronic technologies, it is essential to ensure that certification programs are aligned with current industry needs and competencies. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data from survey responses of certified workers, trainers, and employers, and qualitative insights gathered through interviews and document analysis of TESDA Training Regulations (TRs). The study focused on evaluating the vertical articulation between Electronics Products Assembly and Servicing NC II and Consumer Electronics Servicing NC III, assessing their alignment with workplace standards, technological trends, and labor market requirements. Findings revealed that while TESDA’s NC programs provide foundational competencies relevant to the industry, there are significant gaps in advanced skills coverage, updated technologies, and practical applications. Respondents highlighted the need for regular review of TRs, improved training resources, and closer industry collaboration to ensure alignment with global standards and emerging demands. The study concludes that stakeholder involvement is crucial in maintaining the relevance of TESDA’s certification programs. It recommends revising training content based on industry feedback, enhancing trainer capacity, and developing new competency standards to support lifelong learning and workforce competitiveness in the electronics sector.
