Filipino Influencer Effect: Purchasing Decisions Among Generation Z and Non-Generation Z Consumers in Bahrain
Abstract
This study examined the effect of Filipino Influencer, Richard Martinez, on purchasing behaviors among Gen Z and Non-Gen Z consumers in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It aimed to assess levels of influencer marketing attributes, determine their relationship with purchasing decisions, and compare behaviors across generations. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 108 respondents equally divided between Gen Z and Non-Gen Z groups. Results showed that consumers perceive Richard Martinez as trustworthy, attractive, and an expert in his field, with attractiveness emerging as the strongest contributing factor. Findings revealed a statistically significant and strong positive correlation between overall influencer credibility and purchasing decisions, though attractiveness demonstrated a moderately positive relationship. On the other hand, no significant difference was found between the purchasing behaviors of Gen Z and Non-Gen Z consumers. Based on the findings, it is recommended that Richard Martinez and other influencers maintain authenticity and expertise through honest and emotional content, while consumers are encouraged to make informed and responsible decisions by practicing media literacy and critical thinking.
