Abstract

The rapid convergence of artificial intelligence, sensor networks, computational modeling, and spatial analytics is transforming the foundations of architectural design. Traditional architecture has historically focused on static spatial composition, material performance, and human-centered functionality. However, emerging digital infrastructures are redefining buildings and urban environments as dynamic, data-responsive systems capable of sensing, adapting, learning, and optimizing continuously over time. Under these conditions, architecture increasingly evolves from the design of physical structures into the engineering of intelligent spatial systems. 

This study explores the emergence of data-centric architectural design as a new paradigm integrating computational intelligence, real-time environmental feedback, spatial informatics, digital twins, and adaptive operational systems into the architectural process. The article argues that intelligent spatial systems fundamentally alter how architects conceptualize space, performance, interaction, sustainability, and long-term operational efficiency. Particular attention is given to sensor-driven environments, algorithmic spatial adaptation, machine-learning-assisted design workflows, smart infrastructure integration, human-building interaction models, and the role of real-time data in reshaping architectural decision-making. 

The study further examines how intelligent spatial systems create new opportunities for adaptive sustainability, predictive infrastructure management, responsive urban environments, and continuously evolving spatial performance. Ultimately, the article positions data-centric architecture not merely as a technological enhancement to traditional design, but as a structural transformation in how built environments are conceived, engineered, and experienced.
