Abstract
This quantitative descriptive-correlational study investigated the relationship between motivation and job Ssatisfaction among Filipino employees working in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Guided by Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory, the study aimed to determine how intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors influence overall job satisfaction. Data were gathered through a structured survey questionnaire and analyzed using Spearman’s rho correlation. Results showed that Filipino employees demonstrated a high level of job motivation and job satisfaction. Both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation were found to strongly contribute to employees’ positive attitudes and engagement at work. A high positive correlation between motivation and job satisfaction was established, indicating that increased motivation leads to higher satisfaction levels. The findings emphasize the importance of supportive work environments, recognition, and professional growth opportunities. It is recommended that SME employers enhance both intrinsic and extrinsic motivators to maintain employee satisfaction, productivity, and retention.
