Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the mediating effect of social intelligence on the relationship between competency in drafting and motivation of Senior High School Students. This study surveyed 300 senior high school drafting majors from Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Philippines. Utilizing quantitative research design and mediation analysis through universal sampling technique to examine the mediating role of social intelligence on the relationship between competency in drafting and motivation among senior high school students. The data analysis employed multiple techniques to interpret the results, including mean, Pearson r, regression, and medgraph using the Sobel z-test. Results show that on average, senior high school drafting students demonstrate a high level of competency in drafting, a very high level of motivation, and a high level of social intelligence. Furthermore, a significant moderate positive relationship between competency in drafting and motivation dimensions across all categories, a moderate positive relationship between competency in drafting and social intelligence and a moderate positive relationship between social intelligence and motivation. Social intelligence was identified as a partial mediator in the relationship between competency in Drafting and motivation of Senior High School Students. These findings highlight the importance of further developing social intelligence to empower students in their educational journey, as it directly boosts motivation and acts as a key pathway for competency in drafting to influence motivation.
